The New England Patriots football team was established in 1959 as the Boston Patriots. They were one of the original American Football League (AFL) members before merging with the National Football League (NFL) in 1970. The team played their home games at various stadiums around Boston until 1971, when they moved to Foxborough and changed their name to the New England Patriots. From 1971 to 2002 the Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium until it was demolished and replaced by Gillette Stadium.
Over the years, the Patriots have had many successful seasons and have made it to the Super Bowl several times. They won their first Super Bowl in 2002, and have since won four more Super Bowls in 2004, 2005, 2015, and 2017. The team has also won numerous AFC Championships and has had many talented players, such as Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Rob Gronkowski. Throughout their history, the New England Patriots have been known for their strong defense and efficient offense, and they have consistently been one of the top teams in the NFL.
