The Washington Capitals (affectionately known as the Caps) are an outstanding professional hockey team in Washington, D.C. The Capital’s fierce athleticism has secured their position within the National Hockey League (NHL) Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference, and they have been owned by Monumental Sports & Entertainment since Ted Leonsis took charge. At first, home games were hosted at Landover Maryland’s Capital Centre until 1997, when it was changed to the now iconic Capital One Arena in D.C., where all games take place today!
