If you’re a bit of a gamer, one who’s looking to place bets on your favorite teams, then yes, some sportsbooks allow you to make such a wager. However, if you’re not a big fan of betting on sports or taking a trip to the casino, e-sports betting might be right up your alley. First, let’s explain what exactly esports are. Esports refers to the world of competitive and organized video gaming. Competitors from different leagues and teams face off in popular online games, such as Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, and popular EA sports games.
These competitions are often viewed online through popular live streaming services. And these types of events are quickly growing in popularity. In 2019, over 380 million people worldwide watched esports events. So with esports on the rise, let’s embark upon an adventure and see what certain bets and odds you may see on your sportsbook.
Individual Bet
Here’s an easy wager to make. An individual bet is placed on a person playing the same game as their opponent. For example, person A is favored -160 over person B to win the match. This means that if you wager $160 on Person A to win over B and are correct, you win $100.
Future Bets:
If you’re confident that a person or team will win a tournament, then here’s a bet for you. A future bet is placed before the tournament, and it will only cash if the selected person or team wins the entire tournament. So, if you choose team A to win at +200 odds, you will win double whatever your wager amount is.
Spread/Handicap Bets:
Often, some teams are far superior to others when tournaments are played. For example, team A is -500 against team B in the first round. If you were looking to make $100 on team A, you would need to wager at least $500. Instead of putting down a lot for a small return, you can opt for a spread or handicap bet. This is where the odds are a bit more even. For example, team A is -3.5 (-120 odds) ATS favorites over team B. In other words, team A has to beat team B by at least four games for this wager to cash. However, the odds are smaller. So now you can wager $120 to win $100.
